Daniel Sloss

If you’re a 16-year old aspiring comedian, then an apprenticeship writing for Frankie Boyle should toughen you up for any nights on stage when punters are more interested in heckling that hilarity.   Daniel Sloss knows this only too well as he was that fresh faced teen who graduated from a two day stand-up comedy course, penned gags for Boyle, and made his debut at Edinburgh’s Laughing Horse Comedy Club.  There’s been a lot of water under the bridge since then. The comic has made over 20 TV Appearances in UK and US for shows such as Russell Howard’s Good News, 8 Out of Ten Cats, and recently the John Bishop Show. Of course cracking the States is the dream of many comedians, and Sloss had a good go a couple of years ago when he debuted on hit talk show Conan. Despite becoming an acknowledged entertainer around the world, he’s still a local lad who keeps his feet on the ground.  Not owning a flash car, he used to drive around in his mum’s Ford Ka; plenty of comic potential there.  Now the 25-year old insists he wants to continue making people laugh in his native home despite now having a taste of big time success on US television; his turns on Conan were like a breath of fresh air compared to some of the acts who appear on that show. Obviously gags about drugs and booze are nothing new; stoner comedy felt old fashioned when Cheech and Chong were doing it 35 years ago, but Sloss’s delivery is fresh. See him now on home turf before he gets lured overseas for good by flash cars and a huge salary.

Daniel's on a mission to rid us all of bad relationships.

He says he's broken up eight poor relationships so far, and he couldn't be happier. In fact comedian Daniel Sloss is hoping that the material in his new show SO? will encourage more to ditch partners they are with just for the sake of it. After a stint at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Daniel is about to take his new show oh the road for a UK tour. The 25 year old Joker said: "I'll  be talking about relationships, why they suck and why people force themselves into them just because they are a certain age and it's what their parents and grandparents did, "I believe the worst thing you can do in life is to spend it with the wrong person. "Almost 50 per cent of marriages end in divorce and 80 per cent of relationships that started before the are of 25 break up. "I like being single, and some people just don't get that you can be happy alone. "I've broken up eight couples so far, and it would be great if I could get into the triple figures by the end of the tour. "i will save your life, it's like quitting smoking." Sloss, an award winning Scottish stand up who first performed when he was 16, has just finished a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. He's sold out all of his previous Festival runs for each of the last consecutive six years performing to 10,000 people. His new tour will take him to the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, the Adam Smith in Kirkcaldy, the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen, and the Eden Court in Inverness between now and December. Daniel said "When I play in Scotland every gig is a homecoming. "the Scots are very supportive of their of their own.
